We ‘know that we do not know, and that we cannot’
Once the fearful previous phase has been accepted and passed, the relief of phase 2 arrives. Being aware that we do not know, or cannot do and achieve something we want, provides us with two important states as human beings:
- A sensation of lightweight. When we have realized that we do not know, and that we do not have to ‘pretend’ that we do know, we may notice that we experience a release of weight, or a lighter body and mind. Recognizing that we do not know, it allows the body and mind to ‘rest’ on a zero point or base, where they do not feel that they have to ‘compensate’ for something that, at the moment, they cannot achieve or do.
- A sensation of opportunity(s). From that zero point or base, we can notice that the only thing we have left is to look forward. But instead of wanting to move forward with a false or egotistical idea (fueled by pretending to know), we want to move forward with a predisposition to really learn, or much better than before. For this, we begin to see that there are several opportunities to achieve it. The only thing we were missing in our desire to know and do was a great touch of humility.
These two sensations of phase 2 can facilitate a state of rest, peace, and optimism in the person who is aware that he or she knows that he or she does not know. However, it is from these sensations and states of rest-optimism that it will be easier and more possible for the person to get to know what he/she wants, even if that is not the case at the moment.
Questions to explore:
Have you already gone through any of those sensations and states? Partially, perhaps?
Have you already allowed yourself some relief, rest, and peace and then moved forward with a better attitude?
Have you already asked or received help to get out of this phase?
